When Italians Chat, Hands and Fingers Do the Talking

A Short Lexicon of Italian Gestures

For Italians, it comes naturally. But what do they mean when they talk with their hands?

Many things.

Below are some of the gestures and here is the NY Times article link.

Perfect!
What in God’s name
are you saying?
Nothing.
I don’t care.
Those two get along.
It wasn’t me or
I don’t know.
Someone talks too much.
Get out of here.
Slow down or
keep calm.
Don’t worry,
I’ll take care of it.
Why in God’s name
did you/I do it?
To be afraid.
